David Bowen was a publisher, bookseller, teacher and an actor. Bowen was also a member of various Texas literary and civic groups. Correspondence, financial material and other records relating to the business and personal activities of bookseller and publisher David Bowen. The bulk of the papers concern Corona Publishing Company, the small press founded by Bowen in San Antonio, Texas, and documents the challenges facing small publishers in the 1980s and 1990s. Bowen's involvement with HemisFair '68 is prominent in the collection.

Bookseller, publisher and actor born in New York in 1930, Bowen founded Corona Publishing in San Antonio, Texas in 1977. A small general interest publisher, Corona produced a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles. Bowen owned and operated small bookshops in San Antonio, Texas.
